Open, large, and radiant eyes are an ideal of beauty and a desire shared by many women. To achieve this, the eyelids must be firm, and the eyebrows must be beautifully and naturally shaped. This is because they are not only important for facial expressions but also frame the eyes. While thin, finely plucked brows were in vogue in the 90s and early 2000s, today’s trend is toward bushy, full brows. Increasingly, the desired shape is achieved through various cosmetic treatments, such as shaping, tattooing, and tinting. Additionally, they are brushed into shape daily and set with gel. For some time now, more and more attention has been paid to the hair above the eyes. That is why an increasing number of people are opting for a surgical or minimally invasive eyebrow lift, also known as a brow lift or forehead lift. Dr. Münzberg, a specialist in aesthetic surgery, possesses the necessary expertise and offers four lifting methods at his practice.

4 Methods for Eyebrow Lifts

In facial surgery, a brow lift can be performed using four different methods. We’ll briefly explain how each method works. For more information, feel free to request free informational materials or contact us by phone, in person, or via the contact form. Dr. Münzberg can determine which method is best suited for you only after a personal consultation followed by an examination.

1. Eyebrow Lift by removing a section of skin

In the first method of eyebrow lift performed at the specialist clinic, an incision is made at the upper edge of the eyebrow, and a small section of skin is removed above it. By removing a crescent-shaped section of skin above the eyebrow, the eyebrow is brought closer to the hairline. With this method of eyebrow lift, the scars are generally barely visible, as they are located in the area of the brow line. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. The results are visible after a healing period of approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

2. Eyebrow Lift using threads

The second method of eyebrow lifting, performed by specialist Dr. Münzberg, involves a lift achieved by inserting threads (thread lift) that pull the eyebrow upward. To do this, an incision approximately 2 mm long is made in the eyebrow area—or, if necessary, two incisions on each side—and another small incision is made 1 cm above the hairline. A special probe is then pushed bluntly through the subcutaneous fatty tissue from the first incision to the second incision, and a thread is passed through it. This thread is then secured in the deeper tissue layers of the eyebrow and, after appropriate tightening in the deeper layers, attached to the upper skin incision at the hairline. There are threads that dissolve after about a year and permanent threads that do not dissolve. This forehead lift can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. It is often performed in combination with an Upper Eyelid Lift .

3. Brow Lift During a Forehead Lift

The third method for raising the eyebrows is performed at the clinic as part of a so-called forehead lift, often in conjunction with a Facelift. During this procedure, an incision is made from temple to temple approximately 1 cm above the hairline, and the scalp is detached up to the level of the eyebrows and, in some cases, beneath the forehead muscles. This procedure is often performed on patients with pronounced horizontal forehead wrinkles. Since the eyebrow lift is performed in combination with a facelift, it is recommended that this procedure be performed on an inpatient basis under general anesthesia. However, a forehead lift alone can also be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.

If you decide to undergo surgical or aesthetic treatment, please note the following: Do not pluck, dye, or wax your eyebrows for at least 4 weeks prior to the procedure. Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin for about two weeks before the procedure. Limit your alcohol and nicotine consumption during this time.

Aftercare

There are a few things to keep in mind after a surgical eyebrow lift. Swelling may occur after the procedure, but it will subside on its own within a few days. Avoid rubbing or scratching the wound. It is important to keep the surgical area dry. Avoid contact with water for the first 48 hours. After a few weeks, you can resume wearing makeup, exercising, and engaging in your usual daily activities as normal. The healing phase lasts about 10 to 14 days; only then will the initial results be visible.

You should avoid sunbathing during the first few weeks. This can delay wound healing or negatively affect scar formation.

4. Eyebrow Lift with hyaluronic acid

The fourth treatment method for low-set eyebrows involves injections of highly cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Dr. Münzberg uses this technique to achieve a slight lifting effect on the eyebrows. At the same time, a muscle-relaxing substance can be injected into the lateral eyebrow area, resulting in a lifting effect of approximately 1 to 2 mm of the lateral eyebrow (not in the area near the bridge of the nose!). This makes the eyes appear younger and the gaze more alert.

Wow Brow - Radiant Eye Area

Regardless of the treatment method, the results look very natural. The outcome is a fresh, alert appearance and a radiant complexion. The lift has an anti-aging effect that enhances your appearance and reduces wrinkles. Schedule an appointment, and Dr. Münzberg will determine the method that is right for you.
