Schedule a consultation for Earlobe Correction todayTreating Torn Earlobes
Earrings that are too heavy or so-called “flesh tunnels” can deform the earlobes and stretch the ear holes very wide. Once the earlobes have been stretched—or even torn off in an accident—they will not grow back together. Reconstructing the earlobes can only be corrected by an experienced aesthetic and plastic surgeon.
Before the procedure, Dr. Münzberg will examine you and you will have the opportunity to discuss your preferences. During the consultation, you will be shown before-and-after photos of patients who have undergone surgery with Dr. Münzberg. The earlobe correction performed by Dr. Münzberg—a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery—is now a standard procedure in facial surgery and can usually be performed under local anesthesia. The procedure typically takes between half an hour and an hour and a half. Depending on the findings, Dr. Münzberg employs various techniques. Finally, the earlobes are sutured with fine sutures. Often, the scar can be placed behind the earlobe so that it is not visible.
The following options are available for earlobe surgery:
- Earlobe enlargement or reduction
- Reconstruction of stretched or torn earlobes/piercings
- Reshaping of fused earlobes
After the procedure, you will wear a bandage around your earlobes for about 10 days. When the bandage is removed, the fine sutures will be taken out. Once the sutures are removed, you will be able to see the initial results. However, every wound requires time to heal. New piercings can be made after about 12 weeks. For this reason, we recommend that you do not immediately put pressure on the piercing with earrings such as clip-ons. Instead, please use medical stud earrings for 8 weeks.
If you also have protruding ears, this can be corrected in a combined procedure. Protruding ears can also be a source of distress for those affected. You can find more information on this topic here Ear Correction.
