Surely everyone has heard of liposuction. But few people know that the fat removed during the procedure can be reused after processing. This is truly a wonderful option! That’s because the body’s own fat is ideal for augmenting various areas of the body, especially the face, breasts, or other areas. Autologous fat is not only safe in terms of potential side effects; it also offers an aesthetic procedure with a particularly natural result.
Autologous fat injection, or lipofilling, is a technique established at our specialist clinic for the removal, purification, and transplantation of adipose tissue, ensuring the long-term survival of a large portion of the transplanted fat cells. As an experienced specialist in aesthetic surgery, Dr. Münzberg performs the procedure with great expertise. This allows wrinkles to be gently smoothed away, connective tissue to be tightened, and the breasts to be enlarged or dimples to be smoothed out.
Autologous fat injections are versatile, gentle, and known for their long-lasting results. Dr. Münzberg, a board-certified specialist, can use the processed fat to correct lips (lip augmentation), fill deep nasolabial folds, treat sunken cheeks, accentuate cheekbones, address indentations following liposuction, fill scars, and address defects in the subcutaneous fat tissue throughout the entire body.
To enhance aesthetic results, the autologous fat injection technique can also be used in combination with other surgical techniques (e.g., facelift, liposuction).
Breast augmentation is also possible.
Breast augmentation using autologous fat offers a welcome alternative to implants. The result is completely natural, as no foreign material is used. However, please note: Not every procedure is feasible due to the amount of fat required. For example, after liposuction on the abdomen or thighs, there may not be enough fat tissue (autologous fat) available to achieve a good result with breast augmentation. Therefore, consultation and examination prior to any potential procedure are essential.
In cases of lipedema, the fat can also be used for breast augmentation.
Before fat can be used for facial wrinkle fillers or other cosmetic procedures, it must be harvested from other areas of the body. Here’s what you need to know about which areas of the body are particularly suitable and how liposuction is performed: Liposuction
Usually, a single treatment with autologous fat transfer is sufficient to achieve the desired result.
In rare cases—specifically when there are very deep defects in the subcutaneous fat tissue—two to three treatments at Dr. Münzberg’s clinic may be necessary to achieve the desired result. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all transplanted fat cells will take 100%.
However, the transplanted fat, like the rest of the subcutaneous fat tissue, is gradually broken down over time (4 to 5 years) as part of the natural aging process, particularly in areas of facial movement.
The autologous fat injection is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and takes about one hour. Afterward, please plan for a short recovery period. How long you need to rest afterward depends on the extent of the treatment. Dr. Münzberg will be happy to inform you about post-operative care during your personal consultation.
The procedure is very safe and low-risk, as it uses substances that the body is already familiar with. For this reason, no side effects are expected. After the treatment, you may experience only mild swelling at the injection sites, which will subside within a few days. Applying a cold compress to the swollen areas can help speed up healing.
Even though the substance is natural, we recommend that you have the injections or transplant performed only by an experienced and qualified plastic surgeon or aesthetic surgeon.
This procedure is simply perfect for treating wrinkles. As an experienced specialist in aesthetic surgery, Dr. Münzberg performs the procedure with great expertise, ensuring that wrinkles are gently smoothed away from the skin. The results are visible within a week, once any slight swelling has subsided. There is also the option of treating wrinkles with other fillers. Even deep wrinkles can be smoothed out with injections of hyaluronic acid or other fillers. Other options for aesthetic wrinkle treatment include facelifts or thread lifts.
